Having glasses doesn't alway mean you can see your clearest. When I was younger my eye doctor always prescribes a lower but satisfying lens prescription since my eyes were on a roll by keep on worsening. So I could always handle a stronger lens than the one I currently had. Sometimes it was needed to see far thing. When it was about time to change to a stronger lens I would compensate by titling my glasses at an angle downwards and I could see far images clearer now. Can you figure out why this happens?

WEEE!
How do you get a swing started without a push?
Well you make yourself look like an idiot and start pushing your legs
back and forth like a maniac. Seriously. This perpendicular force, torque, to the swing that you are sitting on makes it move which makes you move since you are on it! The continuous pumping of your legs makes the motion continuous also and thus a happy swing =]
A push doesn't help you get started either, you have to be held up and let go which turns potential (PE=mgh) energy to kinetic (1/2mvsquared) =] and your pumping keeps it going! woooo...now get on a swing and have some PHysics PHun! =P
Thing to think about: is it possible to go completely around the set if the bars allowed you to? well according to the guy on the left it is cause he did it(on a different swing set). HOW is it physically possible?

EW BIRD
okay so i am soo icked out by birds cause i think of all the germs and stuff thus i dont really want to take a picture of one so yeah. k so basically i was sitting by myself and theres the typical gray bird. so i hear this noise and i look at the bird and its shaking its feathers so its all puffed up now and the noise that i heard was the vibration and waves that the bird made by moving its feathers rapidly.

FRICTION!
so i went to a baby shower and they had the confetti on the table. so being me, i was playing with it and trying to pick them up with my finger and then they didn't so i thought that friction would help. so i rubbed it on the table and sure enough the thing stuck! yay! the opposite charges of my finger and the charged confetti makes them attract thus making my picking up successful!

Christmas...
How much would it suck if one of these lights went out? or do you think they used parallel circuited lights?
yeah i know...Christmas was a LONG time ago...sorta. but since we recently learned about circuits i decided to write about circuits that we use in real life. During Christmas, lights are put up. For instance, we have M&M lights that we put around the tree. But, when one goes out, the whole line goes out because they work on a series circuit, thus when one light doesnt work, the circuit is incomplete! intrigue...

THE VENUS ROCKS
okay so my phone is the VENUS! chyea. =] and its pink...DOUBLE CHYEA. lol but anyways, so i noticed like a week ago that when i would talk on the phone with the charger plugged in to the wall and connected to my phone that the battery would charge then disconnect the charge then disconnect just because of the way i was holding it. i was like getting so frustrated and was like WTF. right? like its only like a month old so how could it already be going bad? later i was bored and looking at the charger and discovered that the part that you put into the phone was bent! This made so much sense since i realized that when i moved around with the phone, the bent-ness caused an open circuit, thus no charge could flow and my phone would not charge. I was ecstatic when i realized the problem and thus did not need to go to verizon and ask what the problem was. YAY! go raiders and verizon and pink and the venus and PHYSICS!

sorry
okay so i don't know if this is physics, i kind of have a feeling it might be chemistry...but okay. so we were in these dorms at a community college for states and so it was like there were 4 beds, 2 on each side. So there were like two rooms and then in the middle was the tv, kitchen, living room or whatever you want to call it. So we were in the middle room and then one door to one room was open and the other door to the other room was closed. one of the girls from a different room came into our room to sleep for a while so she went in the room (the one with the door opened) and then she closed it so she could have peace and quiet. So when she did a few moments later the other door that was closed opened! i was freaked, but my friends told me that it was the pressure that made the door open. =]

Improvement
this past saturday was vars champs for swimming...
my past post about swimming talked about how i lost the momentum on my turns because of the "lever arm" known as my leg. Well as ive been practicing, my turns feel faster and more powerful. As i watched the video of my turns in the races from Saturday, I noticed that they were quick and I did not lose any momentum while going into the next lap. The increased lever arm increases the torque which increases the speed that my turn goes which makes me keep my momentum going in rather than losing it =]

Today
Okay so for most people today was the superbowl...
but yeah i did not watch it...well last night i went to the Chris Brown concert and there was this disc thingy he went on that spun and stuff but i decided to do something that is more recent...
STATIC ELECTRICITY. haha
so as i was sitting down i turned to my friend and noticed her hair was sticking up on account of the attraction to the balloon. then people were chuckling at me because my hair was sticking up also. i am guessing that these balloons were highly negatively charged because one, my head and the balloon weren't that close, two i kept putting my hair back but it kept on going back, three i tried "grounding" the balloon but it only reduced the amount of hair that stood up. haha. oh by the way in the picture above, someone rubbed the balloon on my head just for this picture..how lovely. hehe =]

mastering the pillow fight
so basically this weekend there was a massive pillow fight in the loudest room in the Embassy Suites. So there were these long pillows like the one you see above. and i was getting hit really hard with those, i got hit so hard that i fell off the bed. Well anyways, i took one of the long ones and was holding it by the end and holding it out. This did not seem to be working. Generally speaking this is because there is no torque acting upon it since the what i was thinking was the lever arm was not because it was not perpendicular to the pillow. So i put my hand perpendicular to it, thus having more control over where it goes so that it isnt just going anywhere it wants to, not to say that it has a mind of its own. =]

WHOA
okay so this is an old topic but whatever. and it's not that exciting but okay. so this winterbreak was like very busy. for swimming we had morning practice at 7:30 and then at 3:30 again everyday except Christmas and New Years. so anyways we werent gonna let the doubles ruin our winter break so we did stuff after morning and afternoon practice by traveling in a car. so i was in the back and i dont know how i always got stuck in the middle but i did and then they would play jello and i would get the most squished even if we were leaning toward one side, anyways, thats not what my journal is about. so wen we would turn we'd all push against the side that seemed to be sliding towards which would be the centrifugal force. it is not actually a force but it is the force felt. =] sorry no picture...errrr
