mastering the pillow fight

so basically this weekend there was a massive pillow fight in the loudest room in the Embassy Suites. So there were these long pillows like the one you see above. and i was getting hit really hard with those, i got hit so hard that i fell off the bed. Well anyways, i took one of the long ones and was holding it by the end and holding it out. This did not seem to be working. Generally speaking this is because there is no torque acting upon it since the what i was thinking was the lever arm was not because it was not perpendicular to the pillow. So i put my hand perpendicular to it, thus having more control over where it goes so that it isnt just going anywhere it wants to, not to say that it has a mind of its own. =]

Flip Turns

Okay so on january 4th and 5th swimming had the normal kalani invitational. so at finals on the fifth, it was between me and this other girl in the 200 free. we were pretty close and then at the last turn she got more of an explosion off the wall due to her fast turn. this had to do with rotational KE and torque because the week after our coach made us work on turns and i figured that instead of curling my legs, i should extend them so that it increases the "lever arm" thus increasing torque. cool yeah? okay...on to second semester...yay...

WHOA

okay so this is an old topic but whatever. and it's not that exciting but okay. so this winterbreak was like very busy. for swimming we had morning practice at 7:30 and then at 3:30 again everyday except Christmas and New Years. so anyways we werent gonna let the doubles ruin our winter break so we did stuff after morning and afternoon practice by traveling in a car. so i was in the back and i dont know how i always got stuck in the middle but i did and then they would play jello and i would get the most squished even if we were leaning toward one side, anyways, thats not what my journal is about. so wen we would turn we'd all push against the side that seemed to be sliding towards which would be the centrifugal force. it is not actually a force but it is the force felt. =] sorry no picture...errrr
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
